Research reference
Ipamorelin is a synthetic pentapeptide, Aib-His-D-2-Nal-D-Phe-Lys-NH₂, identified within a series of compounds lacking the central Ala-Trp dipeptide of GHRP-1. It is an agonist at the growth hormone secretagogue receptor (GHS-R1a), the receptor for ghrelin. The original characterization in porcine pituitary cell culture and swine models describes GH-releasing selectivity comparable to that of GHRH, with minimal effect on cortisol and prolactin — distinguishing it from GHRP-6 and hexarelin within the same series.
