Research reference
Semax is a synthetic heptapeptide, Met-Glu-His-Phe-Pro-Gly-Pro, comprising the ACTH(4-7) fragment with a C-terminal Pro-Gly-Pro extension that increases stability. It lacks the hormonal activity of ACTH and has been described as an MC4 receptor antagonist. Rat hippocampal work reports increases in BDNF protein levels, trkB tyrosine phosphorylation, and exon III BDNF and trkB mRNA following single administration. Research use only. Not for human consumption.
